Athena Pelvic Muscle Trainer - My Experience

!±8± Athena Pelvic Muscle Trainer - My Experience

I bought the Athena Pelvic Muscle Trainer as I had a weakened pelvic floor caused by having 3 children naturally (one was a particularly difficult and long birth). My own symptoms included mild incontinence and slackened vaginal muscles.

I found it all pretty embarrassing really. Like most of us, I really did try to do the Kegel exercises but they just seemed so tedious and there was always something else to think about. Also, I never really knew if I was doing them right. There were that many "do's and don'ts" and plenty of information about the fact that if you were doing them incorrectly, they wouldn't do any good at all.

After the birth of my first child 20 years ago, I didn't really seem much different "down there". I had an episiotomy and the birth was long and traumatic. After my second child was born, I noticed that I'd started to leak urine a little. This would happen during exercise, for which I started to wear a thin panty pad, and I also noticed that if my bladder was really full, I couldn't quite make it to the bathroom without leaking a little.

I mentioned it to the nurse when I went for a smear test and I received a sheet detailing the Kegel exercises. I could never really get the sensation of tightening up properly although I really did try to include them in my daily routine. For example, I tried to make a point of doing them in the car on my way to work and on a night, when I laid down in bed, I would try to do a few. It was only after the birth of my third child when things became really bad that I considered having a repair operation.

It had got to the point that I was constantly wearing a sanitary pad to soak up the leakage. I couldn't do any exercise at all without being soaked and I'd noticed that when I wore tampons, they seemed to fall out of place and were often close to the entrance of my vagina even though they had been inserted correctly. I subsequently found out that I was suffering from mild prolapse symptoms.

I was watching GMTV one morning and Doctor Hilary Jones mentioned the Athena Pelvic Muscle Trainer. I thought it looked interesting, but I hadn't heard the full segment and didn't think about it again until I heard Chris Steele from This Morning recommend it, saying it was a foolproof way to do Kegels. He said that over 42% of women under 50 suffered from mild to moderate incontinence and that most would not discuss it with partners or even their GP's. I decided to take the plunge and give it a go. This was my last chance to do something before repair surgery.

I used the Athena twice a day for 15 minutes each time. Within a couple of weeks, I noticed that things seemed "tighter". Within a month, there was a real difference in the amount of urine leakage and I would say that after around 12 weeks, I was completely dry. To me it was like a minor miracle! After years of suffering in silence and feeling like an old woman, I was suddenly "cured". I found it totally foolproof.

The Athena Pelvic Muscle Trainer is wireless and that is what convinced me to try it over other pelvic toners. It's only the size of a tampon, so I found it really easy to use. I got into the habit of using it whilst eating my breakfast and then during the evening whilst watching TV, so it never interfered with my routine. I still use it, as in Doctor Chris Steele's words "Use it or lose it"-meaning that like any muscle, it is best to exercise it regularly. I use it just a couple of times a week now.

Rebound Exercise is the therapeutic movement on the mini-trampoline. Because it moves all parts of the body at once we can also call it a cellular exercise. As an exercise it is superior to any other because it not only uses gravity but also two other forces, acceleration and deceleration. As a therapy it is as beneficial as massage or reflexology, since the whole body is involved, it is truly a cellular exercise. Rebound Exercise fulfills all four requirements of effective exercise: Strength Aerobic capability Flexibility Endurance. The greatest benefits of more vigorous exercise is the increase of oxygen. Increased oxygen helps us burn more calories, destroys toxins, gets rid of bacteria and fungus and stimulates cardiovascular health
